Employment Support Services Program The goal of this program is to serve the employment needs of its constituent community through a variety of programs and services that facilitate labour market participation. The program provides workshops, group sessions, coaching, employment support counselling and other services that help them acquire employability skills, learn to become self-sufficient, market their skills, enhance their job search strategies, identify their employment barriers, learn employer expectations and how to create professional portfolios.
Program Activities include:
Workshops, group discussions on labour market trends and legislation; Employment Standards and Ontario Human Rights Code etc.
Supportive counselling to newcomers facing barriers to accessing the labour market
Assistance with resume and cover letter preparation
Long and short-term career planning
Networking opportunities
Access to updated Job Board
Job search workshops and Internet job search
Client referrals to employment opportunities
Job interview preparation, mock interviews and cold calling
Contacting prospective employers
Access to educational and skills upgrading providers in the community
Assistance with with fax, Internet access, photocopying, email
Employment related advocacy
Referrals to prospective employers
Clients have access to free use of computers, Internet, printing, faxing, phone and current job postings.
